Description

The Smithsonian Institution project is located inside the beltway in Landover, Maryland. The project was a five month fast track renovation of an existing warehouse with new tenant improvements of 334,000 square feet. The Smithsonian facility houses collections, libraries with rare book conservation facilities, the central Smithsonian Institution mail facility, a security training facility, shuttle bus transportation hub and exhibit design and fabrication shops. The project included complex mechanical and electrical systems, advanced fire detection and suppression systems, an 8,000 square foot newly constructed mezzanine, state of the art fabrication shop facilities, fully integrated infrastructure for the users, hi-tech security systems, intricate access control and a fully functional interior loading dock.
